Dear Action Members, The cHiPSet Training School on Big Data Processing and Analytics in the Internet of Everything Era was hosted in Novi Sad, Serbia. The school was organized by cHiPSet training school team and locally supported by BioSense Institute and Faculty of Sciences. It was a nice experience and great event of the Action. The training school presented more intertwined connections between HPC frameworks and specific data intensive domains and applications. The European Commission’s DG Connect and COST organized on 12 and 13 September 2017 an interactive workshop on the Next Generation Internet (NGI). The organizers aimed to  bring together stakeholders working on this topic. cHiPSet has been represented by the Action Chair – Joanna Kolodziej – and Sabri Pllana after receiving the personal invitations from Cost Assotiation and European Comission. Dear cHiPSet Members, All running Cost actions received addditional money in the budget for starting a new activity – Conference Grants. From the concept, being the new Cost tool  Conference Grants  “are aimed at supporting PhD students and ECI researchers from Participating ITC Countries to attend international science and technology related conferences not specifically organised by the COST Action” (COST Vademecum, May 2017). We have finished the first call for STSM grants in the 3rd Grant Period. In that first call  (June 2017) fifteen applicants submitted their forms, and the following eleven have been accepted: Olivera Novovic, Fátima Leal, Piotr Szuster, Andrzej Wilczyński, Elli Rapti, Eirini Koilanioti, Adriana Chis, Agnieszka Jakobik, Grażyna Suchacka, Ana Respicio, Mauro Iacono. The final amounts founded appear in the next table, which sum a total of 17.000 EUR. The remaining budget is 8.000 EUR for the 2nd Call.

On June 22nd, 2017, Clemens Grelck, cHiPSet scientific coordinator, presented our COST Action at ISC High Performance, the 32nd Annual Super Computing Conference at Frankfurt (Main), Germany. With more than 450 speakers and more than 3200 attendees ISC High Performance is one of the largest events of its kind in the world. Among others ISC High Performance is world famous for the publication of the summer edition of the TOP-500 list of most powerful high performance computing systems.
